Make washing a gentler moment
Use lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser, then pat dry. A scrubbed, squeaky feeling is not the goal. If washing leaves your face uncomfortable, rethink the cleanser and how much you use. Fingertips are enough; you do not need a rough cloth or cleansing gadget.

For dry skin, a fragrance-free cream or ointment may be more useful than a light lotion. Apply moisturiser while skin is still a little damp. 'Unscented' is not always the same as fragrance-free. A balm labelled for barrier care is still a specific formula: check its ingredients, intended areas and instructions.

If a product burns, stings or makes irritation worse, stop using it and seek advice if symptoms persist. Avoid trying several new active products on already uncomfortable skin. A pharmacist, GP or dermatologist can help work out whether the issue needs treatment; a 'skin repair' label cannot do that for you.
