K-beauty is easier to find in big stores. Here's how to shop it carefully

Kmart and major pharmacy chains now give Korean skincare prominent space. Compare ingredients and routine roles before following a trending product list.

Kmart currently groups Korean skincare brands such as COSRX, Medicube and SKIN1004, while at least one major pharmacy chain has a dedicated K-beauty category. This is evidence of wider retail access and merchandising; retailer 'bestseller' labels are not independent Australian sales data.

Translate the product name into a job

A sheet mask, cleanser, eye serum and sunscreen are not substitutes for one another. Check whether a product cleanses, moisturises, protects from UV or contains an active ingredient you intend to use. Start with the gap in your routine rather than buying a multi-step trend.

Verify the local listing

Compare exact product name, size, ingredients, seller and expiry information when available. Popular names can have multiple variants, and a retailer category page can mix different sellers or stock conditions. For sunscreen, verify the Australian product label and relevant regulatory status before making protection claims.

If a formula contains a retinoid or exfoliating acid, read its directions and suitability information. Claims about collagen or PDRN in cosmetic products should not be treated as evidence of a medical outcome.
